Dr. Monica Vejar (she/her)

Dr. Monica is passionate about working with children, teens, families, and young adults. She specializes in working with neurodivergent individuals (ADHD & Autism), and frequently also works with folks who struggle with trauma, depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, and behavioral challenges (e.g. school refusal). She has been passionate about working with individuals with these challenges for her entire career, completing a concentration in child and health psychology while she earned her doctoral degree in psychology. She works from an evidence-based and neurodivergency-affirming lens, helping individuals to harness their strengths in order to meet their goals and live values-driven lives.

With clinical training at Pacific Clinic’s Child, Adolescent, and Family Clinics and UCLA’s Child and Adolescent program, Dr. Monica is able to draw on her training and clinical experience to help clients find the relief they seek from therapy. She particularly enjoys serving individuals who are stepping down from higher levels of care, such as inpatient and intensive-outpatient settings, and speciality medical clinical settings.

Dr. Monica prioritizes creating a healing space of compassion and understanding within treatment, and collaboratively works as a team with the client and family to promote positive therapeutic change. With training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and CAMS-care, she utilizes evidence-based practices to deliver the most effective treatment to each client she sees.

As a post-doctoral fellow, Dr. Monica is supervised by Dr. Ann White.

Dr. Monica received her PsyD from Loma Linda University, with a concentration in child and health psychology.
